How I Made $1000 From a Mobile Game Without Coding Experience
As a doctor with no background in programming, I never imagined that I would create a mobile game that would earn me $1000 in just one day without any coding experience. My best friend and I wanted to make some extra cash in college, so we decided to create a mobile game that would earn us beer money on the weekends.
We used a game development software called Buildbox, which requires no coding, and modified one of its templates to fit our idea. We took inspiration from the popular Chrome Dino game and created a similar game with flamingos as the main character.
I spent about 2 hours creating the graphics in Photoshop and another hour tweaking the Buildbox template. Then, I spent 3–4 hours making levels that would appear in a random order, making the game endless. Finally, I implemented AdMob to generate revenue from in-game ads and set it up to show ads every 10 times a player lost.
After testing the game for an hour, we published it on iOS and Android. To our surprise, it made around $180 in the first week, mostly from ads shown on iOS. After two months, we started receiving positive reviews on Android, which encouraged us to continue.
A year later, our game had around 10,000 downloads on both the App Store and Google Play Store, earning us $1000 in total from in-game ads. Although we didn’t have the time to keep track of the changing policies on both stores and update the game, we were satisfied with achieving our goal and having fun along the way.
In conclusion, even without any coding experience, we were able to create a mobile game and earn some extra cash using Buildbox, Photoshop, and AdMob. It was a fun and interesting experience that we may not do again, but we are happy to have achieved our goal.
